Western Forest Products Announces Temporary Curtailment at Its Port Alberni, BC, Sawmill

In a statement released on Monday (10-31-22), Western Forest Products (WFP) said that operations at its sawmill in Port Alberni, BC, have been temporarily curtailed. Work at the Alberni Pacific Division Sawmill has been curtailed since mid-October, and currently there is no date set for when it may restart.

In the statement the company said, “We will continue to monitor markets and log availability to determine when we can resume operations.”

The curtailment is impacting approximately 90 employees. WFP says that it is working with the staff at the Port Alberni mill to try place them at other company facility locations while the curtailment is in effect.
